A lack of support from the band is unlikely to cause problems at this size. The same cannot be said of larger sizes. Also, bras feel uncomfortable at first, so a girl might prefer to start wearing a looser band before moving down a size or two. I started wearing a 12A (34A), even though I didn8217t fill it out nicely. I grew into the 12A, and then into a 12B. After a year or two, I realised I could wear a 10D, which I still buy. European sizes are done in cm not in inches, America they have a different way of measuring for cup size so yes they do have DDD, etc. Some countries go by dress size plus cup size. I think you are right to an extent but I really have to disagree with some suggestions. Kim Kardashian and Christina Hendricks in particular are known to be very curvy. Looking at their figures in numerous photos there can be no way they are a 30 band in my opinion. I am a petite size 6 girl who roughly measures just over 25.5in underbust and mostly wear 30 bands (eg. at Boux Avenue or Caprice). Any smaller and I would probably struggle with the hooks at the back So to have the same bra band size as those 2 doesnt sound right (Christina often wears corseted dresses to slim her figure down). With Kim even before pregnancy easily being over a size 14 I don8217t see how her band size would be smaller than a 34 even 36 either as shes really not as slim in reality as she is in that photo. I understand that dress sizes aren8217t always an indicator of what band size a woman would have but with Kim amp Christina I just can8217t see how they would measure that small. Same with the other some women suggested as 2628 bands I genuinely think my ribcage would be smaller than Scarlett and Katy Perry. But when you see other pictures of them and on television they are bigger framed than me so I would say 3032 bands minimum. But all this is only if I sort of compare my ribcage to theirs so that8217s just my opinion. I8217ve have been a bra fitter for AP and have done my dissertation on lingerie so I do understand how a bra should fit but obviously I8217m nowhere near an expert so could be wrong x If you struggle to close a 28 band on a 25 inch underbust you either have mobility problems or the cups are too small. Certainly some women prefer a looser band, but you should know what a by-the-book correct fit looks and feels like, which most people, even those who think they do, don8217t. I have done a crazy amount of research and have actual experience through my old job so I am quite confident on how a correct bra should fit now (certainly with cups). It seems you8217re calculating their bra size via UK measurements. Most of the celebrities here are American and use American bra measurements. For a comparison, please look it up. If she buys from somewhere which uses the old plus four system (which there is nothing wrong with and you shouldn8217t use the modern size there or you won8217t get a bra which fits) then she has a 288243 ribcage. I8217m a 32F in Debenhams8217 bra range called Gorgeous. I have 388243 bust and 308243 underbust. Their chart would put me at 34DD, but I8217ve never fitted a 34 band (always too loose) so they popped me in a 32E and then 32F to get the right fit for me. They have cup volumes of A, B,C, D,DD, E,F, FF, and G. So it really does depend. But yeah, her boobs look my size so I think she does know what she is on about. Debenham8217s might have less stretchy bands, but that8217s not because they8217re on the 8220old system,8221 it just means they8217re sized poorly. The 8220new8221 way of sizing bras is about fitting better, not changing the way the bras measure. I disagree that their bras are designed for 25-26, but they do vary. If you measure 30 it8217s quite possible that you8217d need a 32 in the moulded cups. But the softer, seamed cups are pretty close in fit to Fantasie, so a 30 would fit better. If the back is very V shaped to the shoulders then the band elastic might fit but the elastic along the top of the cradle around the side back be painfully tight or even stop the bra closing. The chest diameter size is what it measures. The cup size is the breast volume. The difficulty in sizing is supporting the volume, especially for larger breasts. Many women wear cup sizes that are too small, trying for support but getting an uncomfortable fit. The band is most of the support, not the straps. Victoria secret uses this 8220adding-4-inches8221 band size system because they don8217t want to increase the manufacturing cost by making the full range of band sizes.
